Forecasts for Ukraine's Economic Growth
It’s worth noting that Ukraine’s economy slowed down in the second quarter of 2024 due to power outages. As a result, the Ministry of Economy has revised its expectations for Ukraine's GDP growth in 2024 from 4.6% to 3.5%.
Additionally, the Ukrainian government has significantly downgraded its forecast for economic growth in 2025 to 2.7%. Previously, a growth of 6.8% was anticipated.
The IMF released two scenarios for Ukraine in December. The baseline scenario predicts that the war will end in the fourth quarter of 2025. In this case, Ukraine's economy is expected to grow by 2.5-3.5% next year, with growth accelerating to 5.3% in 2026.
The negative scenario suggests that the war will continue until mid-2026. In this case, a GDP decline of 2.5% is projected for 2025, with zero growth in 2026.
