The prices for bakery products in Ukraine are expected to continue rising. This forecast was shared by market expert Svitlana Cheremysina in a comment to 24 Channel. As reported by UNIAN, this information comes from Kontrakty.UA.
The publication notes that bakery products consistently exhibit a trend of gradual price increases. According to the State Statistics Service, during September-October, the price of wheat bread made from the highest grade flour increased by 1% to 48.94 UAH per kilogram, wheat bread made from first-grade flour rose by 1.1% to 40.03 UAH per kilogram, rye bread increased by 2% to 41.76 UAH per kilogram, and the price of a baton went up by 2.4% to 26 UAH for 500 grams.
Explaining the reasons behind this trend, Cheremysina pointed out that at the beginning of autumn, the raw materials for bread production continued to increase in price. Specifically, during September-October 2024, the price of flour rose by 5.5% to 18.15 UAH per kilogram, while sunflower oil became 2.4% more expensive, reaching 62.97 UAH per kilogram:
"The only exception is sugar, which decreased in price by 1.6% to 35.09 UAH per kilogram."
It is noted that, according to forecasts from scientists at the Institute of Agricultural Economics, a further gradual increase in the average price of bakery products is anticipated. During November, bread may see a price increase of 5-7%.
