The head of the Parliamentary Committee on Finance, Taxation, and Customs Policy, Danilo Hetmantsev, shared this during a broadcast on the YouTube channel ASATrьопс.
The MP indicated that work is currently ongoing on a draft law that will enable the legalization of cryptocurrency in Ukraine.
"By the end of the year, the draft law is being developed in collaboration with the National Bank and the IMF. In fact, it is not being created from scratch but is being refined from one that already exists in our committee. We expect to receive a specific official position from IMF experts regarding this draft law. I believe that approximately in the first or second quarter of next year, we could legalize crypto and tax it accordingly," Hetmantsev explained.
"By the way, I would not want there to be any illusions about tax benefits. There will be no benefits for crypto. There will be standard taxation based on the taxation model for securities transactions – where investment income is taxed," noted the head of the tax committee.
