Where the Most Pensioners Live
According to PFU data, the highest number of pensioners is in Dnipropetrovsk region, totaling 876.0 thousand individuals. In Kyiv, there are 745.6 thousand pensioners, in Kharkiv region - 707.4 thousand, in Donetsk region - 617.4 thousand, and in Lviv region - 669.3 thousand individuals.
Approximately 8.362 million individuals receive their pensions through bank accounts. The remaining 1.991 million pensioners obtain their payments through "Ukrposhta".
Pension recipients can receive payments either through postal service branches or into their bank accounts.
Recipients have the option to choose their preferred method of payment, including any of the authorized banks. The current list of banks is available on the website of the Ministry of Finance of Ukraine.
Bank Ratings
As of December 1, PrivatBank holds a 57.8% share in pension payments, with 4.830 million individuals receiving funds from this state bank. In second place is the state-owned Oschadbank (31.7%, with 2.654 million pensioners receiving payments).
In the foreign banking group Raiffeisen Bank, pensions are received by 307.7 thousand individuals (3.7%). Other banks serve 571.3 thousand individuals (6.8%).
According to PFU data, the total amount transferred through banks from January to November 2024 was 563.7 billion hryvnias, which is 11.4% higher than in 2023 (504.6 billion hryvnias).
It is worth noting that the average pension amount as of October 1, 2024, was 5,852 hryvnias. The average pension has increased by 4,671 hryvnias or 8.7% since the beginning of the year.
Among the regions of Ukraine, the highest pensions are in Kyiv - 7,971 hryvnias. Following are Rivne (7,277 hryvnias), Donetsk (7,159 hryvnias), Luhansk (6,716 hryvnias), and Dnipropetrovsk regions (6,435 hryvnias).
