В Україні зафіксовано близько 4,7 тисячі одиниць зброї, повідомляє Міністерство внутрішніх справ.

This is reported by the Ministry of Internal Affairs, as conveyed by Ukrinform.

Since the beginning of the declaration process, 4,272 individuals have approached the National Police, declaring a total of 4,668 units of firearms and 1,324,730 pieces of ammunition.

Among these, there are 2,133 units of automatic weapons, 420 rifled carbines and rifles, 1,812 smoothbore shotguns, 36 combined shotguns, and 267 pistols and revolvers.

In total, there are 216 locations designated for the declaration (groups for declaring) of firearms and their associated ammunition.

As reminded by the Ministry of Internal Affairs, on November 25, the Law "On Ensuring the Participation of Civilian Persons in the Defense of Ukraine" came into effect, aimed at improving the procedures for obtaining, declaring, and handling firearms.

The adoption of this law established a legal basis for not holding individuals accountable for possessing weapons without the appropriate permit, while also strengthening the oversight mechanism for the circulation of firearms, which is critically important not only during martial law but also in peacetime.

The Ministry emphasized that any found weapons must also be declared immediately by contacting the National Police units.

As reported by Ukrinform, as of the end of August 2024, according to estimates from the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Ukrainians might possess between 2 to 5 million units of undeclared weapons.
