In the issuer's ATM network, Ukrainians withdraw larger amounts—averaging 5358 hryvnias. In ATMs of other resident banks, the average withdrawal is 3879 hryvnias.
According to the NBU, abroad, the amount of a single withdrawal is twice as high as in Ukraine, totaling 8791 hryvnias.
In the IV quarter of 2024, the share of cash transactions with payment cards stopped decreasing, now accounting for 36.5% of the total transaction amount.
The ATM network shrank in the IV quarter and overall throughout the year to 29,000. PrivaBank has the largest number of ATMs.
The network of POS terminals continued to grow. In the IV quarter, the leaders in growth were Privatbank and private banks (+4.9 thousand and +4.5 thousand terminals respectively). Ukrposhta and NovaPay also slightly expanded their POS terminal networks. Overall, in 2024, market participants increased the network by 53.6 thousand terminals, reaching a total of 523 thousand.
In the IV quarter, the number of active payment cards significantly increased across all bank groups, reaching 58.7 million. The most significant growth occurred in Privatbank (up to 31.5 million) and private banks. The number of active cards from the only non-bank issuer, NovaPay, slightly decreased.
In the IV quarter, the network of branches of solvent banks decreased mainly due to the classification of the regional Kominvestbank (38 branches) as insolvent. The most noticeable reductions occurred in the Transcarpathian and Donetsk regions. Overall, in 2024, 156 branches were closed, including 80 in private banks.
The number of employed staff increased to 96.3 thousand; reductions only occurred in private banks. PrivatBank employs 19.0 thousand people.
As a reminder, according to the NBU, from January to September 2024, the average check for card payments in Ukrainian stores was 322 hryvnias, while payments for goods and services online rose by 15% to 553 hryvnias.
