Price Reduction and Stabilization for Medicines

On February 12, the National Security and Defense Council approved a step-by-step action plan for reducing and stabilizing drug prices. The government has already initiated several regulations to ensure transparent pricing and fair competition, including:

  • regulating markups on medications;
  • banning the practice of marketing payments;
  • resuming inspections by the State Service of Ukraine on Food Safety and Consumer Protection (concerning price controls in pharmacy chains).

Additionally, the Verkhovna Rada has adopted changes to the Law of Ukraine "On Medicines" in the second reading. It has now been sent for the President of Ukraine's signature.

As a reminder, it was previously reported that starting March 1, prices for 100 popular medications in Ukraine will be reduced by 30%. For details on which drugs are included in the first hundred, read the article by RBK-Ukraine.
