Which professions will rise in popularity in five years, and which ones are expected to decline? Findings from a recent study reveal the trends.

The modern world is constantly evolving, and businesses and employers are compelled to adapt to these changes.
Какие профессии станут популярными через 5 лет, а какие ожидает сокращение: результаты исследования.

In light of this, over the next five years, some professions (particularly those related to technology, educators, and skilled trades) will gain more popularity, while several others will face reductions, including cashiers, secretaries, and postal workers. Reports OBOZ.UA. This information is shared by Kontakty.UA.

This is discussed in the Future of Jobs Report 2025, prepared as part of the World Economic Forum. The authors indicate that between 2025 and 2030, the labor market will be shaped by the following factors:

  • increased digitization;
  • rising cost of living;
  • adaptation to climate change;
  • geopolitical tensions.

During this period, the number of job vacancies related to technology will grow the fastest, specifically for fintech engineers, AI specialists, and machine learning experts. Additionally, the following professions will also be in demand:

  • teachers in higher and secondary educational institutions;
  • agricultural workers;
  • delivery drivers;
  • construction workers;
  • salespeople;
  • food industry workers;
  • nurses;
  • social workers;
  • caregivers.

Researchers believe that 39% of the skills currently required for workers will transform over the next five years. The least relevant skills will be manual dexterity, endurance, and precision (although such skills will remain valuable at a high level). Consequently, representatives of the following professions should prepare for reductions:

  • cashiers;
  • ticket inspectors;
  • administrative assistants;
  • secretaries;
  • postal service workers;
  • bank tellers;
  • data entry clerks.

There are also skills that will become essential in the future, even though they are not currently considered so. These include proficiency in network management, knowledge of cybersecurity, and environmental management. To meet market demands over the next five years, employers need to attract new talents and retain existing ones. To achieve this, they must implement:

  • upskilling;
  • automation of work processes;
  • salary increases;
  • flexible and inclusive approaches.

Previously, OBOZ.UA reported that due to the war and population outflow, Ukraine is facing a significant workforce shortage. In January 2025, for every 100 job vacancies, only 168 resumes were submitted in a week.
