This is mentioned in the revised draft law №12295-д regarding amendments to the Law "On Mandatory Insurance of Civil Liability of Owners of Ground Vehicles." The decision was supported by 279 deputies. Reports OBOZ.UA. This was announced by Kontakty.UA.
During the discussion of the draft law, the Verkhovna Rada adopted amendments that allow combatants and individuals with war-related disabilities to receive compensation for insurance premium expenses, related to the conclusion of domestic mandatory auto insurance agreements. This will enable the reimbursement of insurance payments from the State Budget of Ukraine and reduce the financial burden on those who were directly involved in combat operations or suffered due to the war.
In particular, the draft law proposes compensation for insurance premium expenses during the state of martial law and one year after its conclusion. This means that combatants and individuals with war-related disabilities will not have to spend their own funds on insurance payments, which will undoubtedly improve their financial situation after returning from the front or due to injuries sustained.
In addition to compensation for insurance premium payments, the draft law also foresees a reduction in insurance costs for individuals with war-related disabilities. For these individuals, it is proposed to reduce the insurance payment by 50% provided that the vehicle has a working engine capacity of up to 2500 cm³ or an electric motor power of up to 100 kW.
Another significant change is the temporary exemption of combatants and individuals with disabilities from the requirement to enter into a mandatory auto insurance agreement. This exemption will be in effect until June 30, 2025. According to the new regulations, these individuals will not be required to conclude an insurance contract, which is particularly important for those without stable income or who are in difficult financial circumstances due to the consequences of the war.
The changes made to the draft law aim to preserve and enhance social protection for combatants and individuals with war-related disabilities. Compensation for insurance expenses and reductions in insurance premiums will help alleviate the financial burden for these individuals in the post-war period.
As previously reported by OBOZ.UA, the state will compensate for the cost of driving school training for veterans, their families, and the families of fallen soldiers. The program is already operational in seven cities and will expand, helping thousands of Ukrainian defenders become more mobile and independent.
