This is reported by RBK-Ukraine citing the press service of the National Commission for the State Regulation of Communications and Informatization (NCCIR). This information comes from Contracts.UA.
What is known about the suspension of the service and timelines
The NCCIR has announced that, in accordance with the Procedure for number portability services and information about database failures, the Commission will temporarily suspend the processes related to the transfer of subscriber numbers from 08:30 on Friday, December 20, 2024, until 16:15 on the same day.
Meanwhile, electronic communication service providers are required to:
- inform subscribers about the temporary suspension of the number portability service
- resume the service from 08:30 on Monday, December 23, 2024
It is noteworthy that this decision was likely made against the backdrop of a sharp increase in demand for this service and the need to enhance capacity.
This may be related to the fact that recently a significant number of subscribers wish to change mobile operators due to reports of sharp tariff increases.
For instance, at the beginning of December, the mobile operator "Kyivstar" announced an average fee increase of 25% for its services.
Soon after, Vodafone also warned subscribers about changes in the prices of several of its tariffs (although the next day it decided to postpone the previously announced changes).
In light of this situation, we invite you to find out how tariffs will increase and what mobile communication will cost in 2025.
