Ukrainian banks have closed over 100 branches in the past year, according to the rankings as of January 1.

As of January 1, 2025, Ukraine had a total of 5,011 active bank branches. Over the course of the year, this number decreased by 127.

This is reported by RBK-Ukraine citing data from the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU). Additionally, Kontrakty.UA has reported on this matter.

Moreover, 886 bank branches are currently classified as "temporarily suspended".

The largest number of branches belongs to the state-owned Oschadbank, totaling 1,150. Additionally, the operations of 625 branches of this bank have been temporarily halted.

State-owned PrivatBank ranks second with 1,107 branches, of which 68 are temporarily suspended.

Following these, with a significant gap, are Raiffeisen Bank (325), private PUMB (223), and UkrSibbank (218), which is part of a foreign banking group.

As of January 1, there were 62 banks operating in Ukraine.

However, in December, "Kominvestbank" was declared insolvent. As of January 1 of last year, this bank had 39 branches. The NBU currently counts 29 branches of this bank in its statistics.

Additionally, the "Alpari" bank has surrendered its license and had no branches.

In recent years, banks have been reducing the number of their branches. Compared to the peak in 2029, their number has fallen by more than four times.

According to the NBU, Ukrainian banks are reducing branches and ATMs while increasing the number of POS terminals.
