In February 2025, Ukraine is experiencing significant fluctuations in vegetable prices due to several factors. Reports TSN. This information is provided by Kontakty.UA.
This was reported by the association "Ukrainian Club of Agrarian Business."
As of mid-February 2025, wholesale prices for certain vegetables were as follows:
- Onions — 14.5 UAH/kg (+4% year-on-year)
- Potatoes — 24 UAH/kg (+37%)
- Carrots — 26.5 UAH/kg (+130%)
- Cucumbers — 113 UAH/kg (+27%)
- Tomatoes — 77.5 UAH/kg (-12%)
- Beets — 15 UAH/kg (+28%)
- Cabbage — 36.5 UAH/kg (+232%)
The main factors influencing prices are a decrease in the supply of quality vegetables, a reduction in stocks in storage, unfavorable weather conditions during the harvest, and high demand from wholesale and retail chains.
"Overall, the combination of reduced supply and increased demand leads to higher prices for vegetables, particularly for carrots, cabbage, beets, and potatoes, while prices for some imported products, such as tomatoes, continue to decline due to weak demand and increased supply," the report states.
It is worth noting that experts have predicted that by March 2025, the cost of dairy products will start to decrease.
