RBC-Ukraine found out from OLX Real Estate where Ukrainians plan to spend the New Year holidays. This information is reported by Kontrakty.UA.
The majority of Ukrainians (71%) do not intend to rent accommodation for the winter holidays. Only 6% of respondents are preparing for a winter getaway, while 3% are considering renting solely for New Year celebrations. Those who plan to travel mostly choose the Carpathians, especially during the New Year period. When selecting accommodation, the key criteria remain convenience and comfort, with the most common rental budget ranging from 1000 to 2000 hryvnias per day.
Carpathians Vacation – A Top Choice
Among those planning a vacation, most have chosen the Carpathians (77%). The most popular resorts are:
- Bukovel – 50%
- Yaremche – 29%
- Verkhovyna – 27%
- Slavske – 24%
57% of respondents plan to travel during the New Year period (late December – early January), while another 29% are looking at the second half of January. The most common vacation duration is 3–7 days (35%).
Budget and Criteria for Choosing Accommodation
48% of those renting accommodation for New Year's Eve plan to go to the Carpathians, 38% will prefer large cities (Kyiv, Lviv, Odesa), and 5% will choose the suburbs.

The most popular type of accommodation is private houses (55%), with the ideal rental period being from December 30 to January 1 (74%).
Rental budget:
- 44% are willing to spend 2000–5000 hryvnias per day
- another 44% choose options under 2000 hryvnias
- 11% set a budget starting from 10,000 hryvnias
Previously, RBC-Ukraine reported how much the daily rental of accommodation in Kyiv costs on New Year's Eve. The most popular options are houses with saunas and apartments with terraces. During the holiday period, rental prices may double.
The demand for short-term rental houses for New Year celebrations in Kyiv and the suburbs remains high. Budget options in the capital cost around 20,000 hryvnias for two nights, while prices for elite estates can reach 100,000 hryvnias. In the suburbs, rentals are significantly cheaper, but some listings already indicate that bookings for New Year's days are closed.
