In Ukraine, there is a limited supply of quality white cabbage, leading to a significant increase in retail prices within this segment. Reports TCH. This information is provided by Kontrakty.UA.
Analysts from EastFruit report this situation.
Over the past week, the price of quality white cabbage in Ukraine has risen from 22 UAH/kg ($0.52/kg) to 25–35 UAH/kg ($0.60–0.84/kg), averaging a 16% increase. This price surge is attributed to the limited supply in the market, as many farmers choose to hold onto their produce, hoping for further price increases in the coming weeks.
Wholesale companies, for their part, are showing a strong interest in purchasing cabbage and are willing to raise their buying prices. Currently, the prices of white cabbage are, on average, three times higher than during the same period last year. Market participants anticipate further price hikes due to decreased production and a reduction in the volume of cabbage suitable for long-term storage.
