In the lead-up to the New Year holidays, Ukraine is experiencing a notable increase in demand for greenhouse tomatoes, which has led to a significant rise in prices for this product. Reports TSN. This information comes from Kontrakty.UA.
This is also noted by analysts from the EastFruit project,
In just the past week, the prices for greenhouse tomatoes in Ukraine have risen by an average of 20%. Currently, imported tomatoes are being sold for 80-100 UAH per kilogram ($1.91-2.38/kg), depending on quality, batch size, and product variety.
Experts point out that this week the supply of tomatoes in the market has been insufficient, as local producers did not conduct harvesting due to the end of the season. At the same time, imported products were unable to fully meet the growing demand, allowing sellers to increase prices for imported tomatoes.
Currently, greenhouse tomatoes in Ukraine cost, on average, 12% more than during the same period last year. Analysts believe that prices for this product will continue to rise, as demand remains consistently high despite the price increases.
