Throughout 2024, nearly 210,000 entrepreneurs closed their businesses in Ukraine, marking the highest rate in the past five years. Reports TSN. This information comes from Kontrakty.UA.
The data is supported by a study conducted by YouControl.Market.
Experts attribute the mass closure of businesses to economic difficulties, changes in tax legislation, and migration trends.
It has also been revealed that the highest number of entrepreneurs closed their businesses in Kyiv, Poltava, and Vinnytsia regions.
Where Businesses Have Ceased Operations
The largest number of closures was traditionally observed in the capital. Over 27,000 entrepreneurs have suspended their activities in Kyiv. At the same time, the capital remains the leader in new registrations with around 40,000. The regions with the highest increase in closed businesses compared to 2023 are:
- Poltava region – an increase of 57.2% (8.1 thousand closed businesses in 2024);
- Kirovohrad region – an increase of 55% (4.5 thousand);
- Vinnytsia region – an increase of 45% (8.4 thousand).
As a reminder, the service for closing businesses has been restored in Ukraine through the "Diia" portal. The Ministry of Digital Transformation has noted that one can register as an entrepreneur through the application in just 15 minutes.
