The price of carrots continues to rise in Ukrainian markets and stores. This trend has been ongoing for several weeks now. A kilogram of the vegetable costs between 25 and 32 UAH, as reported by TSN and Kontrakty.UA.
Analysts from the EastFruit project have provided this information.
It is noted that just last week, the price for a kilogram of carrots was significantly lower—around 10% less.
Experts cite the primary reason for the price increase as the depletion of quality vegetable stocks from local producers. Some producers have already completed their sales season for carrot stocks. Currently, farmers are offering only leftover batches for sale or are refraining from sales altogether, hoping that prices will rise even further as spring approaches.
At present, the average price of carrots is 2.3 times higher than at the beginning of January 2024. This increase is particularly attributed to a reduced harvest due to weather anomalies over the summer.
It’s worth noting that in supermarkets, carrot prices start at 29.5 UAH.
As a reminder, garlic prices in Ukraine have reached a historic high. Since mid-December 2024, its price has confidently exceeded 200 UAH per kilogram.
