Where the Most Pensioners Are
According to the PFU, the highest number of pensioners is in the Dnipropetrovsk region, totaling 876.0 thousand individuals. Additionally, there are 745.6 thousand pensioners in Kyiv, 707.4 thousand in the Kharkiv region, 617.4 thousand in the Donetsk region, and 669.3 thousand in the Lviv region.
As of now, 8.362 million individuals receive their pensions through bank accounts. The remaining 1.991 million pensioners receive payments via "Ukrposhta".
Pension recipients can collect their payments either through postal service branches or directly into their bank accounts.
The recipient of the payment independently chooses their preferred method of receiving funds, including any of the authorized banks. A current list of banks is available on the website of the Ministry of Finance of Ukraine.
Bank Ratings
As of December 1, PrivatBank accounts for 57.8% of pension disbursements. This state bank serves 4.830 million individuals. In second place is the state-owned Oschadbank, with a share of 31.7% and 2.654 million pensioners receiving funds.
Pensions are disbursed to 307.7 thousand individuals (3.7%) through Raiffeisen Bank, a foreign banking group. In other banks, 571.3 thousand individuals receive their payments (6.8%).
According to the PFU, the total amount of funds transferred through banks from January to November 2024 reached 563.7 billion hryvnias, representing an increase of 11.4% compared to 2023 (504.6 billion hryvnias).
It is worth noting that the average pension amount as of October 1, 2024, was 5,852 hryvnias. The average pension has increased by 4,671 hryvnias or 8.7% since the beginning of the year.
Among the regions of Ukraine, the highest pensions are found in Kyiv - 7,971 hryvnias. Following are Rivne (7,277 hryvnias), Donetsk (7,159 hryvnias), Luhansk (6,716 hryvnias), and Dnipropetrovsk regions (6,435 hryvnias).
