Zelensky met with Sandu in Kyiv, where the leaders issued a joint statement.

The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, held a meeting with the President of Moldova, Maia Sandu, in Kyiv.

Зеленский и Санду встретились в Киеве, где лидеры провели совместную пресс-конференцию.
Leaders discussed regional security, energy, and social issues affecting both countries.

This was reported on the Telegram channel of the Ukrainian leader.

The parties issued a joint statement regarding bilateral relations and mutual support during challenging times. The statement was published on the website of the Office of the President of Ukraine.

The document states that the parties:

  • confirmed their unconditional support and commitment to the sovereignty, independence, unity, and territorial integrity of both states within internationally recognized borders;

  • expressed full solidarity of the Republic of Moldova with Ukraine and its people, who are bravely and legitimately resisting Russia's aggressive war, and agreed to continue practical assistance to Ukraine as long as necessary to create conditions for restoring a comprehensive, just, and lasting peace in Ukraine and strengthening Europe's security;

  • noted Moldova's multifaceted assistance in meeting the needs of Ukraine and its people since the first days of Russia's illegal, unprovoked, and unjustified full-scale military invasion of Ukraine, recognizing the importance of continuing humanitarian aid and committing to enhance joint efforts to identify necessary resources and provide support to those affected by Russia's aggressive war against Ukraine, particularly displaced Ukrainians in Moldova;

  • called for the withdrawal of Russian troops from all temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine and urged the international community to provide reliable security guarantees for Ukraine;

  • strongly condemned Russia's deliberate and systematic attacks on Ukraine's civilian infrastructure, which result in numerous casualties among the civilian population and constitute gross violations of international humanitarian law. These attacks also pose threats to the citizens of Moldova due to violations of sovereign airspace, as drones land on Moldovan territory. Such actions are unacceptable and underscore the need for immediate and coordinated efforts to ensure reliable and effective defense for Ukraine;

  • confirmed their support for the Peace Formula, which is the only viable and effective mechanism for restoring a just and lasting peace and ending Russia's aggressive war against Ukraine in accordance with the norms and principles of international law;

  • emphasized that an effective sanctions policy is a key factor in limiting Russia's capabilities, means, and resources to finance its war against Ukraine. Therefore, strong sanctions are not only a crucial deterrent but also an indispensable tool for restoring peace in Ukraine and across Europe;

  • agreed on the importance of establishing a special international tribunal to ensure accountability for the Russian Federation for its aggressive war against Ukraine;

  • stressed that Russia's full-scale aggression against Ukraine and ongoing violations of international norms, condemned by the overwhelming majority of the international community in UN General Assembly resolutions, call into question Russia's role as a mediator and guarantor in various conflict situations, particularly in the Transnistrian conflict;

  • reaffirmed their shared commitment to the peaceful reintegration of the Republic of Moldova through negotiations and called for the unconditional withdrawal of Russian troops from the Transnistrian region.
