Zelensky discussed enhancing cooperation with Japan's Foreign Minister.

The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, met with the Japanese Foreign Minister, Takeshi Iwaya, who made his first bilateral visit abroad to Ukraine following the formation of the new government.

Зеленский провел переговоры с японским министром иностранных дел о расширении сотрудничества между странами.
The head of state noted that Takeshi Iwaya visited not only Kyiv but also other Ukrainian cities, particularly Bucha.

This information was reported on the website of the Office of the President of Ukraine.

“You have been on our side since the beginning of Russia's full-scale invasion; you have helped us. We greatly appreciate the assistance provided to Ukraine by the government and the people of Japan. The total amount of nearly 12 billion dollars represents overall support for Ukraine during this war,” said Zelensky.

The president separately expressed gratitude for the allocation of 3 billion dollars as part of the G7 decision on a 50 billion dollar loan, which will be repaid using revenues from frozen Russian assets.

The president highlighted the close relationship between Ukraine and Japan and expressed hope that dialogue at such a high level will continue with the new Prime Minister of Japan, Shigeru Ishiba.

“In light of the North Korean military's involvement in Russia's war against Ukraine, it is important to discuss how to prevent an escalation from Russia, now together with North Korea,” he stated.

Volodymyr Zelensky and Takeshi Iwaya agreed to enhance the implementation of the bilateral security agreement that was signed on June 13 in Apulia.

Takeshi Iwaya noted that he came to Ukraine to affirm Japan's unwavering position: Japan stands with Ukraine and will continue to do so. He emphasized his support for strengthening bilateral relations between the countries for the sake of security.

Let us remind you that during this visit, Japan and Ukraine agreed to conduct bilateral security dialogue involving the ministries of foreign affairs and defense against the backdrop of North Korean troop deployments in Russia.
