Today, European leaders commemorate another anniversary of the Holodomor genocide of 1932-1933.
In particular, the President of the European Parliament, Roberta Metsola, issued a statement on
social media platform X.
"Today, Europe stands with the people of Ukraine to remember and honor the millions of victims of the Holodomor," she wrote.
Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani also expressed his condolences. "Today, we remember the Holodomor—a genocide that resulted in the deaths of over 6 million people in Ukraine during 1932-1933 under Stalin's orders. My thoughts are with those tragic events and the ongoing war in Ukraine," he stated on
his page on X.
Latvian Foreign Minister Baiba Braže reminded that her country recognized the Holodomor of Ukrainians as genocide back in 2008.
"Russia continues what it started 91 years ago—attempting to erase the Ukrainian people from the face of the earth,"
the diplomat pointed out.
The Czech Ministry of Foreign Affairs also honored the memory of the Holodomor victims, orchestrated by the Stalin regime, on social media platform X. "Ukrainian resistance was not broken then—and Russian aggressors will not win today. Ukraine now has loyal friends who will support it in every way," emphasized the foreign ministry.
