In Ukraine, the testing phase for a range of drones equipped with fiber-optic communication has been successfully completed, and the process of obtaining NATO coding for these developments is at its final stage.
This is
reported by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The list is topped by the drone from the “BLACK WIDOW WEB 10” project - a kamikaze drone utilizing fiber optics. This UAV can cover distances exceeding 5 km and deliver around 2 kilograms of payload.
The developers of the project have received NATO codes not only for this specific direction but for an entire range of UAV solutions.
Commenting on the achievements of the innovative activities of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Colonel Vitaliy Dobryansky, head of the department, noted that an important task has been accomplished - overcoming enemy electronic warfare systems while utilizing drones.
“This is not just a new type of weapon - it represents a window of opportunities for further research and development in the field of fiber optic communication. Robotics and unmanned technologies have gained a new development vector. FPV drones with this technology pose a significant challenge for the adversary at the front line,” he stated.
The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine has additionally
allocated 1.89 billion hryvnias for the procurement of drones for combat brigades.
