The parliament approved the bill on basic military training.

The Verkhovna Rada has approved bill No. 12076 regarding amendments to the Law "On Military Duty and Military Service."

Рада одобрила законопроект о введении базовой военной подготовки.
The decision was supported by 298 lawmakers.

This was reported by MP Yaroslav Zheleznyak in Telegram.

“An important amendment was made here: Women volunteers will be registered for military service at their own request before basic training,” the parliamentarian noted.

According to the bill, undergoing this training is voluntary for women, as is their military registration.

Additionally, starting in 2025, conscription will be abolished, and basic military training will be introduced instead. It is important to note that this type of service will be mandatory for men who are fit for service based on their health condition.

Basic training will commence on September 1, 2025, and will be conducted:

  • for students of higher educational institutions - at the institutions themselves or in facilities with specific training conditions that prepare police officers;

  • for citizens planning to enter government service, local government bodies, or the prosecutor's office for the first time, as well as for all interested parties - at the training centers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine

Moreover, the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine has approved new standards for military personnel training in first aid. These standards aim to enhance the competence of soldiers in providing assistance in combat and extreme conditions.
