At least 50 deputies from the ninth convocation of the Rada are under suspicion, according to Korniyenko.

The First Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada, Oleksandr Korniienko, reported that at least 50 members of the Ukrainian parliament, accounting for 8.5% of the composition of the ninth convocation of the Verkhovna Rada, have received suspicions.

Не менее 50 депутатов девятого созыва Рады оказались под подозрением, сообщил Корниенко.

He discussed this during the presentation of the research results: "Rada-9. Results".

“I believe that the consequences of the abolition of immunity will be visible for a long time. At least 50 members of parliament are under suspicion - this is a clear indicator. It is certainly difficult to accept, as this represents 8.5% of the composition. I do not think there is such a percentage of corrupt individuals in any other segment of society. No, that does not exist. This raises questions, and society must draw conclusions. This is purely a political issue,” stated Korniyenko.

Overall, he identified the abolition of immunity as one of the key factors affecting the work of the current parliament.

“The work of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine of the ninth convocation was influenced by three significant factors: the abolition of parliamentary immunity, overcoming vote buying, and the disgraceful phenomenon of re-voting on issues,” said Korniyenko.

According to him, the number of repeated second readings and rejected bills has increased compared to the previous convocation.

“If a bill is rejected, it cannot be reintroduced during this session. This encourages legislative initiative subjects to improve the quality of their projects and their content,” Korniyenko explained.

The First Deputy Speaker also noted numerous challenges faced by the ninth convocation of parliament, particularly the full-scale invasion by the Russian Federation.

“There was the 'turbo mode', Covid-19, and amendment spam. There were also bills that significantly delayed parliamentary work in terms of procedure... But despite the fact that this 'technology' resurfaces from time to time, laws are being passed,” clarified the First Deputy Speaker.

Recall that it was recently reported that a deputy of the Zhytomyr Regional Council is suspected of electricity price fraud. He connected his own shopping center to the 'household' electricity supply rate instead of the 'commercial' one. As a result, state energy companies lost 3.4 million UAH.

In the Vinnytsia region, a village council deputy - the head of a farming enterprise - is suspected of illegally seizing over 200 hectares of particularly valuable state land. These lands are intended for research and educational purposes.
