The Head of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, Kyrylo Budanov, commented on rumors regarding his potential resignation.
"Another leak, and definitely not the first," –
quotes Budanov from the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
In response to a question about his relationship with the President's Office, the head of the GUR assured that it is a "normal working format," and that he reports to President Zelensky "almost every day."
Kirill Budanov also commented on the threats made by the Kremlin leader Putin regarding the potential use of new missiles against Ukraine, stating that the aggressor's head of state is trying to hinder any attempts to end the war.
According to Budanov, nearly all types of weaponry available have already been used against our country – from submarines to strategic aviation. "But I will reiterate: the Russians have not demonstrated anything fundamentally new," the head of the GUR concluded.
Recall that on November 28, the head of the Russian Federation, Putin,
threatened Ukrainians with a supposedly new ballistic missile "Oreshnik." He claimed that Russia already has several such missile systems ready for deployment.
As for rumors about Budanov's dismissal, several media outlets previously reported on the possibility of his resignation. Some sources even suggested that the head of the Foreign Intelligence Service, Oleg Ivashchenko, might
be appointed to replace Budanov.
However, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky
stated that he does not plan to dismiss either GUR head Kirill Budanov or Defense Minister Rustem Umerov.
