A resident of Vinnytsia has been charged with the brutal murder of two men.

In Vinnytsia region, a 33-year-old resident of the Lyopovetska territorial community has been informed of suspicion for committing a particularly cruel intentional murder of two men.

This was reported by the press service of the Vinnytsia Regional Prosecutor's Office, as conveyed by Ukrinform.

“Under the procedural guidance of the Nemyriv District Prosecutor's Office, a 33-year-old resident of the Vinnytsia district has been charged with the intentional murder of two individuals with particular cruelty (subparagraphs 1, 4 of part 2 of Article 115 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine),” the statement reads.

According to the report, the incident occurred on January 4 of this year in the evening in one of the villages of the Lyopovetska territorial community. Three men were drinking alcohol at the cottage of a relative of one of the victims. A conflict arose among them on a domestic level.

It is suspected that one of the participants in the gathering took a canister with a flammable substance, doused the men with it, and set them on fire.

One of the victims, a 40-year-old man, managed to run outside but died in a medical facility without regaining consciousness. The other, a 41-year-old, died at the scene.

After the crime, the perpetrator fled.

Currently, the court has granted the prosecutor's request, and a preventive measure in the form of detention has been applied to the suspect.

The specified crime is punishable by imprisonment for a term of ten to fifteen years or life imprisonment.

As reported by Ukrinform, in November 2024, for the murder of a couple in the village of Lopatyn in the Sheptytskyi district of Lviv region, a 36-year-old suspect was ordered by the court to be held in custody without the right to bail.
