Zelensky on security guarantees: "There won't be a Minsk-3."

Ukraine requires strong security guarantees rather than temporary agreements that Russia will not adhere to.
Зеленский о гарантиях безопасности: «Минск-3» не состоится.

President Volodymyr Zelensky made this statement in an interview with Piers Morgan, as reported by Ukrinform.

“I remember everything that happened right after I became President: there was Minsk, there was a contact line, and along it, people died every day. Yes, there were no mass killings; I mean, there were no large-scale artillery strikes, but something happened every day. Families lost their loved ones: both military and civilians. Artillery shells fell on schools and so on. So, all of this is very, very wrong. There was also a withdrawal of troops at that time. I heard someone say today: we need to declare a ceasefire, then carry out a troop withdrawal. Believe me, that’s “Minsk-3.” We definitely will not go for “Minsk-3.” Those are not security guarantees for Ukraine. We need guarantees because they are important for everyone,” Zelensky noted.

He emphasized that Ukraine's NATO membership is the best guarantee.

“NATO is a guarantee that Putin is unlikely to come at us again. NATO provides guarantees for NATO countries that they will be reinforced by a Ukrainian contingent of hundreds of thousands of people. And that is a strong NATO army. This is very important for everyone. NATO guarantees the Russians that Ukraine will not eventually go to war with them, but will resolve all issues exclusively through diplomatic means. That’s why I said that NATO is a guarantee for all. Stable and cheaper,” the President remarked.

As reported by Ukrinform, on December 3, in a statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the signing of the Budapest Memorandum, it was indicated that the only real security guarantee for Ukraine, as well as a deterrent against further aggression from Russia towards Ukraine and other states, is full-fledged membership of Ukraine in NATO.
