In Ukraine, one of the vegetables essential for borscht has started to increase in price this week. The rise in prices is driven by high demand for quality products amid limited supply. Reports TSN. This information comes from Kontrakty.UA.

It has been revealed that active purchases of carrots by wholesale companies and retail chains are leading to a rapid decrease in their stocks in storage.
Currently, carrot prices range from 25-33 UAH/kg, which is 10% higher than at the end of last week. This increase is associated with a significant reduction in market supply. Many farmers have already sold all their products, and large farms are now only shipping carrots according to previously signed contracts.
Despite the significant volumes of Polish carrots available in the market, price increases continue unabated. The demand for imported products remains very high as well. At present, the price of quality carrots in Ukraine is, on average, 2.4 times higher than it was a year ago. Some producers are planning further price hikes if sales continue at the current pace.
As a reminder, we previously reported that in February and March 2025, an increase in food prices is expected, especially for vegetables.
