This was stated by the head of "Energoatom," Petro Kotin, as reported by RBK-Ukraine referencing "Interfax-Ukraine." This information is also provided by Kontrakty.UA.
He mentioned that all nine nuclear power plant units are currently operational, generating the necessary power for the energy system.
"We have a significant reserve of power that we can add if needed," Kotin clarified.
Generation Issues in Ukraine
Recall that, according to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, during the intensified Russian shelling in the spring of this year, all thermal power plants in Ukraine were destroyed and some hydroelectric power stations were damaged.
As a result, nuclear power plants have remained the primary source of electricity generation. During the summer, the power units at the nuclear power plants underwent scheduled maintenance. Against this backdrop, strict power outage schedules were implemented in Ukraine.
However, last week it became known that all nine units at the nuclear power plants under Ukrainian control have been brought back online. Consequently, the generation level has increased.
Vladimir Omelchenko, director of energy programs at the "Razumkov Center," stated in a comment to RBK-Ukraine that regular outage schedules could return as early as November.
