The State Employment Service shared insights on "male" professions that women have successfully taken on.

In recent years, women have increasingly taken on "traditionally male" professions. For instance, by 2024, approximately 300 women will be employed as machinists.
В Государственной службе занятости рассказали о "мужских" профессиях, которые освоили женщины.

This was discussed in an interview with RBK-Ukraine by the Director of the State Employment Service, Yuliya Zhovtyak. This information is reported by Kontrakty.UA.

According to her, women are acquiring professions such as tractor drivers, crane operators, forklift drivers, CNC machine operators, and milling machine operators. They are also entering the construction sector.

"We are indeed observing that women are increasingly pursuing 'traditionally male' professions. For instance, in 2024, around 300 women have already been employed as machine operators, 128 as crane operators, and nearly 200 women have received vouchers for training as tractor drivers," Zhovtyak shared.

She noted that under the free training program for women in 'traditionally male' professions, the state covers training costs up to 30,000 hryvnias.

This initiative will enable Ukrainian women to master over 30 professions and secure jobs in fields where they have been underrepresented, particularly in those most sought after by employers. Additionally, businesses will have the opportunity to train the necessary specialists, a shortage they are currently acutely feeling.

"I personally tried operating a John Deere tractor at one of our training centers. For example, the power steering is much more powerful than in a car. The control panel is like a computer. If a person has a driver's license, mastering this equipment in two to three months is absolutely feasible," Zhovtyak stated.

Currently, there is an increased demand from employers specifically for these mentioned specialties.

"Ukrainians want to work, but their professional skills do not always match the needs of employers. I reiterate, we have a significant shortage of qualified workers," Zhovtyak explained.

At present, it is more challenging to find jobs for economists, lawyers, civil service specialists, data entry operators, librarians, and postal workers. There is a lack of demand from employers for these roles, leading to a significant number of job seekers in these fields.

Earlier, we reported that military personnel currently have the highest salaries in Ukraine. However, among non-military sector enterprises, those in IT continue to earn the most.
