In Ukraine, potatoes are sold in stores at prices ranging from 18 to 28 UAH/kg ($0.43-0.67/kg), depending on quality, variety, and the volumes of the offered batches. This represents a 12% decrease compared to the end of last work week. Reports TSN. This information is provided by Kontrakty.UA.
Analysts from EastFruit also report on this.
The decline in prices is attributed not only to weakened demand for potatoes but also to stable supplies of this product from external markets. Most key market players note the average quality of imported potatoes, which has also affected the sales rates of local products.
At the same time, Ukrainian farmers are not complaining about the selling prices of potatoes this season, as they have increased by an average of 41% compared to last year. Experts explain this by the drop in yield due to unfavorable weather conditions during the summer. Additionally, many farmers are observing a gradual deterioration in the quality of stored potatoes.
Let us remind you that there is currently a rise in prices for white cabbage due to a shortage of quality products.
