Ukrainian defenders captured a soldier from the Russian army who hails from West Africa.

Ukrainian defenders captured a soldier from the Russian army, originally from West Africa. He allegedly came to Russia's Saratov for training but was subsequently mobilized.

As reported by Ukrinform, the Joint Tactical Brigade of the Air Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine announced this on Facebook.

"The day before, the military of the Joint Tactical Brigade, alongside comrades from the 35th Separate Marine Brigade named after Rear Admiral Mykhailo Ostrogradskyi, repelled a Russian assault on their positions. Through the collective efforts, five enemies were eliminated and one was captured," the statement said.

The prisoner of war revealed that he hails from West Africa and came to study in the Russian city of Saratov, from where he was mobilized into the invaders' army.

"Ukrainian soldiers provided the captive with necessary medical assistance, fed him, and offered him drinks. In gratitude, the African from the Russian army thanked the fighters for saving his life," the brigade's press service noted.

As Ukrinform reported, on January 11, President Volodymyr Zelensky informed that the Defense Forces in the Kursk region had captured two military personnel from North Korea.
