LLC "Gas Transmission System Operator of Ukraine" has reached an agreement to increase guaranteed capacities in preparation for operations under new conditions, ensuring gas supply both to Ukraine and through Ukraine to European consumers.

This was reported by the press service of GTSOU, as conveyed by Ukrinform.

“The Gas Transmission System Operator of Ukraine has proactively prepared the infrastructure to operate under a zero transit regime and to ensure reliable gas supply for Ukrainian consumers. The company’s team is ready to work under new conditions,” emphasized GTSOU General Director Dmytro Lippa.

In particular, in preparation for operations under new conditions, GTSOU has agreed to increase guaranteed capacities to allow for gas supply to Ukraine and through Ukraine to European consumers. In 2024, Ukraine received guaranteed capacities for the first time, increased in the southern direction – this is the "Vertical Corridor," as well as secured guaranteed capacities from Poland.

The second direction of the Company’s preparation for zero transit was the optimization of the cost structure. There was a significant reduction in natural gas consumption for its own needs, as well as optimization of a considerable number of assets that are not involved in the operation of the gas transmission system.

As previously reported, starting January 1, 2025, the Ukrainian GTS will operate without the transit of Russian gas. At 7 AM Kyiv time, the Agreement on Cooperation between LLC "Gas Transmission System Operator of Ukraine" and PJSC "Gazprom" for the Physical Connection Points between the gas transmission systems of Ukraine and the Russian Federation dated December 30, 2019, expired. Accordingly, the transportation of natural gas from the entry point "Sudja" on Ukraine's eastern border to exit points on the western and southern borders has been terminated. The Gas Transmission System Operator of Ukraine has duly informed international partners about this.
