Ukraine proposes the establishment of joint ventures with French companies that manufacture weapons based on needs. Several projects have been suggested that could be funded through the interest from frozen Russian assets, stated Deputy Minister of Defense Serhiy Boyev during a meeting with the French President's Special Representative for Aid and Reconstruction of Ukraine, Pierre Elbron.
Boyev informed that Ukraine's critical needs continue to be air defense and missile defense systems, interceptor missiles for existing systems, heavy armored vehicles, and ammunition.
"In addition to investments and production development, Ukraine is also interested in purchasing ready-made weapons. The needs remain significant, the situation on the front is dynamic, thus we require prompt solutions," emphasized the deputy minister.
Boyev also briefed the French special representative on the current plans of Russia. He stressed that the actions of the aggressor indicate that the Russian Federation has no intention of stopping the war and continues to enhance its capabilities in forming units, recruiting new personnel, and developing the defense industry.
"For us, the continuation of support from partners and the readiness to increase it is crucial. Ukraine must be strong on the battlefield – this is essential for achieving lasting peace," Boyev highlighted.
As reported by Ukrinform, the European Union is seeking ways to confiscate part of the frozen Russian assets totaling $280 billion, attempting to ensure financial and military support for Ukraine amidst the likelihood of reduced assistance from the United States.
