The Association of Ukrainian Studies in Japan held a meeting in Tokyo.

On February 1st, Tokyo hosted the 52nd meeting of the Japan Association of Ukrainian Studies, led by Professor Yoshihiko Okabe, which has been active for over 30 years.
В Токио прошло заседание Ассоциации украиноведов Японии.

As reported by Ukrinform, this was announced on Facebook by the Embassy of Ukraine in Japan.

The diplomatic mission noted the annual increase in the number of participants, as well as the active interest in the event from journalists, businesses, civil society, and representatives from related scientific fields.

“It is noteworthy that the main prize of the Association for published works in the field of Ukrainian studies this year was awarded not to professional Ukrainists, but to authors who began researching Ukraine after the onset of Russia's full-scale war against Ukraine,” the post stated.

The embassy expressed gratitude to the members of the Association for their diligent work, which creates a new scientific discourse and alters outdated perceptions of Ukraine that have been shaped in Japan over the years through the lens of censored Moscow archives.

Let us remind you that on November 26, 2024, a ceremony took place in the Japanese city of Kobe to mark the opening of the honorary consulate of Ukraine in Kobe and the Ukrainian Scientific Center named after Matsuguchi Tadashi at Kobe Gakuin University.
