As reported by Ukrinform, this information comes from the Ministry for Reintegration of the Temporarily Occupied Territories of Ukraine.
The school's activities were discussed during a meeting addressing the challenges faced by Ukrainian citizens abroad, chaired by Iryna Vereshchuk, Deputy Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine.
Representatives from the Ministry of Reintegration, the Ministry of Education and Science, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ukrainian embassies abroad, Ukrainian educational institutions, and other agencies also participated in the meeting.
The Ukrainian School of the Immaculate Conception has been operating in the United Kingdom since 1955. Since the onset of the full-scale war in Ukraine, the weekend school has welcomed hundreds of Ukrainian students from various regions.
The institution has 14 locations and is the largest charitable educational organization providing educational and psychological support to Ukrainian children in the country.
At the initiative of the school and the British Department of Education, positions for Ukrainian-speaking education support workers were established in municipal authorities in 2023 to assist Ukrainian children temporarily displaced to the United Kingdom.
These workers provide psychological support to children and parents, conduct stress and emotion management sessions, offer guidance on navigating the higher education system in the UK for further studies, and help overcome language barriers, among other services.
Currently, 30 such specialists are working in the London area and its outskirts, supporting approximately 2,500 Ukrainian children.
Efforts are ongoing to expand the project's reach to all local authorities in London to ensure maximum coverage of the needs of Ukrainian children temporarily residing in the United Kingdom.
As reported by Ukrinform, a school for Ukrainian children has opened in the British town of Malvern, located in Worcestershire.
