As reported by a correspondent from Ukrinform, this was stated by Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau during a press conference in Ottawa.
“Canadians are somewhat puzzled by the fact that our closest friends and neighbors have chosen to target us instead of other complicated parts of the world. I don’t think there are many Americans waking up saying: ‘Damn Canada, we need to do something about it!’” emphasized Trudeau.
He stressed that Canadians have always been friends and partners of Americans and will continue to be so in the future.
“Of course, these are challenging times, and emotions can sometimes run high, especially during hockey. However, I am confident that we will get through this, as we share the most successful partnership in the history of the world. This is very valuable, especially amid the current geopolitical instability,” noted the head of the Canadian government.
As Ukrinform reported, The U.S. announced the imposition of high import tariffs on goods from Canada, Mexico, and China starting Monday, to which Canada responded with mirror measures.
