A resident of Ternopil lost 34 thousand from her payment card while attempting to apply for financial assistance online.

This was reported by the National Police of Ukraine in the Ternopil region, as conveyed by Ukrinform.

"A 38-year-old woman from the regional center contacted the Ternopil District Police Department, stating that an unknown individual had committed fraudulent actions against her. According to the victim, an unknown man called her, introduced himself as a bank employee, and offered to help her apply for financial assistance online," the statement reads.

It is noted that the woman agreed and followed all the caller's instructions, including dictating a code that was sent to her phone. After that, 34 thousand hryvnias vanished from her bank card.

In response to this incident, the police have initiated a criminal proceeding under part 4 of Article 190 (fraud) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The sanctions of this article provide for imprisonment for a term of three to eight years. Currently, law enforcement is taking steps to identify the individual involved in the crime.

As reported by Ukrinform, over three thousand job referrals have been issued in Ternopil region for the 'Restoration Army'.
