It is noted that the parties discussed key areas of cooperation between Ukraine and the North Atlantic Alliance, urgent security challenges, as well as achieving a fair and sustainable peace.
Stefanishyna expressed gratitude to NATO for its support of Ukraine and emphasized the importance of further consolidating efforts to enhance the country's defense capabilities and resilience.
“Ukraine is committed to its European and Euro-Atlantic path. The implementation of the decisions made at the NATO Washington Summit has already become an important milestone that significantly influences the strategic development of relations between Ukraine and the Alliance. We expect further strengthening of this cooperation, especially in the field of defense and security,” she noted.
The parties also discussed the Comprehensive Assistance Package for Ukraine, which includes urgent medium- and long-term projects and through which Ukraine receives non-lethal assistance.
“We view the Comprehensive Assistance Package as an essential tool for developing Ukraine's defense capabilities, achieving interoperability with the Alliance's forces, and advancing reforms in the security and defense sector,” Stefanishyna emphasized.
The participants of the meeting welcomed the launch of the NATO-Ukraine Joint Analysis, Preparation, and Education Center (JATEC) and noted the initiation of the NATO Security Assistance and Training Initiative for Ukraine (NSATU).
A representative of the NATO Secretary General's team assured support for Ukraine and a commitment to strengthening cooperation.
As reported by Ukrinform, on February 25, Deputy Head of the President's Office Ihor Zhovkva held a meeting with NATO Deputy Secretary General Ruege, during which the importance of cooperation on the path to Ukraine's membership in the Alliance was discussed.
