Starmer discussed the war in Ukraine and the upcoming summit in London with Erdogan.

UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan discussed, among other topics, the war initiated by Russia against Ukraine during a phone call, as well as the upcoming summit of European leaders in London.

This is stated in a statement from the British government, as reported by Ukrinform.

It is noted that Starmer informed Erdogan about his recent visit to the USA and the importance of collaboration with international partners to bolster European security.

“Discussing the war in Ukraine, the Prime Minister reaffirmed the UK's commitment to support Ukraine for as long as necessary to deter Russian aggression,” the statement reads.

It is mentioned that Starmer will outline his objectives at the leaders' summit in London on Sunday.

Downing Street emphasized that the leaders agreed to maintain communication.

As reported by Ukrinform, UK Prime Minister Kir Starmer invited President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky and over ten other European leaders to London on Sunday, March 2, to discuss the security guarantees that countries can offer Kyiv in the event of a ceasefire with Russia.

Invitations were extended to the leaders of Germany, Denmark, Italy, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Spain, Turkey, Finland, Sweden, the Czech Republic, and Romania. The presence of NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte and the heads of the European Commission and the European Council, Ursula von der Leyen and António Costa, is also expected.

UK Prime Minister Kir Starmer had phone conversations with Presidents Volodymyr Zelensky and Donald Trump following their dispute at the White House and expressed his “steadfast support for Ukraine.”
