According to Ukrinform, this was stated by the Republican Party's vice-presidential candidate J.D. Vance in an interview with NBC News.
Vance believes that Trump wants the Alliance to maintain its strength. "He (Trump – ed.) wants us to stay in NATO," Vance said, commenting on Trump's intentions.
However, according to Vance, Trump also expects NATO countries to genuinely "bear their share of the defense burden."
Vance explained that only the U.S., the United Kingdom, and a few other countries in the Alliance meet their defense spending commitments, while others do not, and this is something Trump aims to change.
As reported by Ukrinform, Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump stated that he intends to negotiate peace between the Russian Federation and Ukraine even before his inauguration as president if he wins the election.
