The Slovak state power grid operator SEPS confirmed in a comment to the Czech news agency CTK on Friday, January 3, that the supply of electricity to Ukraine will continue and that SEPS will adhere to the contracts made with "Ukrenergo".
Prior to this, Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico stated that the government would discuss measures in response to Ukraine's cessation of Russian gas transit. According to him, options being considered include stopping electricity supplies to Ukraine and reducing assistance to Ukrainian refugees in Slovakia.

Earlier, on December 27, Fico mentioned that his country would consider actions in response to Ukraine's cessation of Russian gas transit starting January 1, 2025.
On December 19, President Volodymyr Zelensky stated that Ukraine is ready to transit gas to European countries as long as it is not of Russian origin.
