In the issuer bank's ATM network, Ukrainians withdraw larger amounts, averaging 5,358 UAH. In ATMs of other resident banks, the average withdrawal is 3,879 UAH.
According to the National Bank of Ukraine, abroad, the amount withdrawn in one transaction is double that in Ukraine, amounting to 8,791 UAH.
In the IV quarter of 2024, the share of cash transactions with payment cards stopped decreasing, standing at 36.5% of the transaction amount.
The ATM network shrank in the IV quarter and overall throughout the year to 29,000. PrivatBank has the most ATMs.
The network of POS terminals continued to grow. In the IV quarter, the leaders in growth were PrivatBank and private banks (+4,900 units and +4,500 units respectively). Ukrposhta and NovaPay also slightly expanded their POS terminal networks. Overall, in 2024, market participants increased the network by 53,600 terminals to 523,000.
In the IV quarter, the number of active payment cards significantly increased across all groups of banks, reaching 58.7 million. The most notable growth occurred at PrivatBank (up to 31.5 million) and in private banks. The number of active cards from the only non-bank issuer, NovaPay, slightly decreased.
In the IV quarter, the network of branches of solvent banks decreased mainly due to the classification of the regional Kominvestbank (38 branches) as insolvent. The most noticeable reductions occurred in the Zakarpattia and Donetsk regions. In total, 156 branches were closed in 2024, of which 80 were in private banks.
The headcount of employees increased overall to 96,300: reductions occurred only in private banks. PrivatBank employs 19,000 individuals.
As a reminder, according to the National Bank of Ukraine, from January to September 2024, the average check for card payments in Ukrainian stores was 322 UAH, while the payment for goods and services online grew by 15% to 553 UAH.
