According to Ukrinform, this was reported by the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine via Telegram.
As per the report, from 19:00 on Friday, January 3, the Russians attacked Ukraine with 81 strike UAVs of the Shahed type and imitation drones of various types from the directions of Bryansk, Kursk, Oryol, and Primorsko-Akhtarsk.
The air assault was countered by aviation, anti-aircraft missile troops, electronic warfare units, mobile fire groups of the Air Force, and the Defense Forces of Ukraine.
As of 09:00, the downing of 34 strike UAVs of the Shahed type and drones of other types has been confirmed in the Poltava, Sumy, Kharkiv, Kyiv, Chernihiv, Cherkasy, Kirovohrad, Dnipropetrovsk, Odesa, and Mykolaiv regions.
Due to the active resistance of the Defense Forces, 47 enemy imitation drones were lost locally (without negative consequences).
“However, the downed UAVs caused damage in Chernihiv and Sumy regions—private houses were damaged. Assistance is being provided to the affected,” the Air Force added.
As reported by Ukrinform, in the first three days of 2025, the Russians have already used over 300 strike drones and about 20 missiles against Ukraine.
