Defense forces shot down 60 Russian drones overnight, with an additional 26 lost in various locations.
According to Ukrinform, this was reported by the Air Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on Telegram.
From 21:00 on Thursday, January 2, Russian forces attacked Ukraine with 93 strike UAVs of the Shahed type and imitation drones of various types from the directions of Bryansk, Millerovo, and Oryol.
The air assault was countered by aviation, anti-aircraft missile troops, electronic warfare units, mobile fire groups of the Air Forces, and the Defense Forces of Ukraine.
As of 09:00, the confirmed downing of 60 Shahed-type strike UAVs and other types of drones was recorded in Poltava, Sumy, Kharkiv, Kyiv, Chernihiv, Cherkasy, Zhytomyr, Donetsk, and Dnipropetrovsk regions.
Due to the active resistance of the Defense Forces, 26 enemy imitation drones were lost locally (without negative consequences), and one remains airborne.
Several strikes by attack drones on private enterprises and apartment buildings in Donetsk and Chernihiv regions have been recorded.
In Kyiv region, several areas experienced damage to private homes and vehicles. There is one deceased and several injured.
