Rubio does not rule out the possibility of additional sanctions against China.

When asked if China should expect anything beyond the tariffs already announced by US President Donald Trump, Rubio replied, “Yes, of course.”

According to him, the US administration may resort to new pressure tactics if China continues to “deceive and steal.”

Speaking about the outcomes of his recently concluded trip to Panama, the American top diplomat noted that he anticipates additional steps from the government of that country to counter Chinese influence in the Panama Canal area in the coming days.

“There are many options being considered for what the end result should look like, and I will not rule any of them out. However, the fundamental condition is that we cannot allow China, through its companies, to continue controlling the canal area. I have made this clear and hope that in the coming days we will see additional steps in this direction,” Rubio stated.

As Ukrinform reported, US President Donald Trump stated that his administration plans to negotiate with China, which may result in delaying the imposition of a ten percent tariff on Chinese goods – similar to how tariffs on imports from Canada and Mexico were postponed.
