Russia has seized 18 GW of Ukrainian power generation, according to Halushchenko.

Russia has occupied 18 GW of Ukrainian power generation, including hydroelectric plants, thermal power stations, and the largest nuclear power plant in Europe—the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant.
Россия захватила 18 ГВт украинской генерации, заявил Галущенко.

The Minister of Energy, Herman Halushchenko, stated this, as reported by Contracts.

Over the course of 2024, Russia has destroyed or damaged 10 GW of Ukrainian generation capacity.

“Ukrainian energy has been a target of Russian terrorist attacks since the first days of the large-scale invasion,” he noted. “During these three years, Russia has carried out over 30 massive coordinated attacks on Ukrainian energy infrastructure, resulting in damages totaling billions of dollars.”

Furthermore, according to the minister, targeted strikes on the energy sector continue daily.

“Russia is committing crimes by attacking facilities critical to the operation of nuclear power plants, thereby creating a threat of nuclear catastrophe. No energy system in the world has faced such challenges,” Halushchenko reported. “However, despite Russia's relentless desire to destroy our infrastructure, the Ukrainian energy system remains intact and operational. We have light, we have heat.”
