Border guards apprehended an illegal "tourist" and his guide at the Romanian border.

This is reported by the State Border Guard Service, as conveyed by Ukrinform.

"Acting on operational information, border guards from the Chernivtsi squad detained two men who were walking towards the state border with Romania in the area of the Herța department. During the conversation with the detainees, it was revealed that a local resident had agreed to smuggle one man across the border under the remote instructions of the organizer of the illegal scheme. For this journey, the resident of Ternopil agreed to pay 20 thousand US dollars," the statement said.

Materials regarding the illegal "tourist" have been compiled for administrative offenses. A notification has been sent to law enforcement agencies regarding the organizer of the scheme, whose location is being established, and his accomplice under Article 332 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. Information has been entered into the Unified State Register of Court Decisions.

The guide has been detained. He has been informed of the suspicion of committing a criminal offense and a preventive measure has been chosen – detention with the possibility of posting bail.

As reported by Ukrinform, internal and security operatives of the State Border Guard Service, together with police officers, eliminated the channel for the illegal transportation of men across the border via "Shlyakh".
