On Wednesday, January 8, air defense units shot down seven Russian drones over the Sumy region.

According to Ukrinform, this was reported by the Sumy Regional Military Administration on Telegram.

“Today, January 8, our anti-aircraft gunners shot down 7 enemy ‘Shaheds’ in the sky over Sumy,” the message states.

Additionally, the Regional Military Administration noted that since the beginning of 2025, air defense units in the region have destroyed 69 Russian drones.

As reported by Ukrinform, the enemy launched an attack on Ukraine using strike UAVs today, January 8, prompting air raid alerts in several regions.
