In the 21 days following the fall of Bashar al-Assad's regime in Syria, an average of 1,672 Syrians left Turkey daily, totaling 35,114.

This was reported by Turkey's Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya, as conveyed by Ukrinform referencing CNN Türk.

“On average, 1,672 people returned to Syria each day after the fall of Assad's regime. In total, 35,114 Syrians voluntarily returned to their homeland in 21 days,” the minister stated.

Currently, most Syrians leaving Turkey are returning to Aleppo.

“30% of the 2 million 905 Syrians (in Turkey - ed.), which amounts to 805,000, are children born here. They do not have Turkish citizenship; they were granted temporary protection status. At the moment they pass through the border checkpoints, their temporary protection status expires,” the minister explained.

It is expected that the number of Syrians returning home will increase during the school holidays.

As reported by Ukrinform, on December 8, the head of the National Coalition for Syrian Revolutionary and Opposition Forces, Hadi al-Bahra, announced the fall of Bashar al-Assad's regime, which had ruled Syria for 24 years.
